2014 Emmys: Watch Billy Crystal’s Touching Tribute to the Late Robin Williams

Amid all the celebrations and laughter during Monday night’s 2014 Emmy Awards, there was one larger-than-life presence that was sorely missed: the late, great Robin Williams. And following the annual In Memoriam segment to honor the famous faces we’ve lost over the last year, Billy Crystal took the stage to honor his longtime friend and fellow comedian in a moving and heartfelt tribute.
If you missed it during Monday night’s festivities, you can watch the tribute above, in which Crystal reminisces about his pal before playing clips of some classic Williams stand-up performances, forgoing the typical awards ceremony tradition. Williams’ loss is still very much fresh in all of our minds, and his absence is very much felt throughout all of Hollywood.
He was a presence so big and so vivid that he simply couldn’t be reduced down to a simple photograph, and Crystal’s tribute truly is perfect.
