The events of the 2018 Duluth Polar Plunge have all been completed, and at the weekend's conclusion, well over $100,000 was raised for Special Olympics of Minnesota. This year, the Duluth Plunge weekend featured three events, the plunge, 5K, and the newly-added Cool School Plunge, which was held on Friday.

Between the three events, estimated donations came in around $160,000 according to statistics announced during the plunge after party at Grandma's Sports Garden on Saturday afternoon. $143,579 of those dollars were accounted for in preliminary fundraising efforts according to the event pages on the state's Polar Plunge website.

While weather was chilly, with windchills around 0 degrees on Friday for the first ever Cool School plunge, the weather was much more cooperative on Saturday. The 5K saw a chilly start to the day, but plungers during the Polar Plunge on Saturday afternoon enjoyed air temperatures around 31 degrees, even though there was a breeze making it feel a little cooler. Water temps were just above the air temperature, near 33 degrees.

As we have done for the past several years, we livestreamed the whole plunge on YouTube, and we're excited to share a recording of the plunge! You can see the whole plunge recording in the video at the top of the page, and you can also see photos from the day in the gallery below.

Thanks to everyone that participated in making this event a fun and successful event!
