Aaron Rodgers Makes a Costly Mistake Spouting Off About Ryan Braun Being “Innocent” Only to Be Proven Wrong

When Brewers outfielder first faced allegations of using performance enhancing drugs (PEDs), fellow Wisconsin athlete Aaron Rodgers stepped to his defense on Twitter, saying Braun was an innocent victim of the media. Turns out Rodgers wasn’t only wrong, but lost a costly bet in the process.

In a Twitter rant in February of 2012, Rodgers boldly claimed that Major League Baseball was making Braun the target of a witch hunt, suggesting the media was out to get the Brewers slugger after claims he had used PEDs. Rogers and Braun are friends and business partners, co-owning the 8-Twelve MVP Bar and Grill, which is named after the numbers of the two players.

Rodgers felt so sure of his claims, he even wagered a whole year’s salary on Braun’s innocence. Turns out that was a bad idea. Here’s the rant from Rodgers on his Twitter page:

Following Braun coming clean on claims of using PEDs and a suspension through the remainder of the 2013 season, Rodgers appears to have some egg on his face. This, of course, leaves the question of whether or not Rodgers follows through on his wager – or if he will even acknowledge his comments from over a year ago. As of right now, he has not acknowledged Braun’s situation or any of his bold statements from last February.
