According to a Music Web Site, “Purple Rain” was Voted The Best Song of the 1980’s

All hail "The Purple One" as he and The Revolution have been crowned with the Number #1 song of the 1980's according to the music website Pitchfork.

The 1980's was an exciting time for the Minneapolis music scene for artists and producers alike and in 1984, the movie and soundtrack to Purple Rain, put Minneapolis and Prince on the map in a worldwide scale.
