Duluth Native Maria Bamford infused her typical humor into her commencement speech in front of the fresh face graduates at the University of Minnesota this week.

According to City Pages Bamford did touch on a serious topic of her own personal battles with depression, stress of jobs, and student loans. So she decided to pick a random student out of the crowd who is a Liberal Arts Major and Bamford gave her a check for $5,000 to be used towards her student loans.

Bamford was a graduate of The U of M in 1993 Majoring in Creative Writing, which she has obviously put to good use with her years of Stand Up Comedy and her NETFLIX show too.
