No matter what your political leanings are, anyone who is or has been a College Student knows how outrageous the cost of books are, and Franken us trying to change that.

Senator Al Franken who was a Harvard Graduate is proposing a Grant Program to fund these "Open Textbooks" which are online textbooks available to professors and students alike. Lat year the average student spent over $1,200 on books and supplies , which may explain why 65 percent of students opt to not even buy books.

Franken is working alongside Senator Dick Durbin-(D) from Illinois which is being referred to as The Affordable College Textbook Act . No word yet on how long this will take to be a reality, but it is nice to see some politicians trying to make a difference.
