Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Issue First Joint Statement, Will Keep Divorce Proceedings Private
On Monday (January 9), the actors announced via a statement to the Associated Press that they have decided to utilize a private judge in order to keep the details of their ongoing divorce proceedings private so as to protect their children.
“The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues,” the statement reads, according to USA Today. “The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification.”
The statement is the first joint address from the former couple since Jolie filed to end her two year marriage to Pitt back in September.
Jolie and Pitt first became involved while working on their film Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005. They share six children together.
