According to the Star Tribune, Baby Boomers will be given a few extra seconds to cross busy sidewalks. So, If you are someone who is impatient behind the wheel good luck to you!

According to a Federal study the average person used to walk 4 feet per second 60 years ago, and now the average is 3.5 feet per second.

I have been to New York City a number of times and I think most pedestrians there walk 7 feet per second. You really need to be on your a-game in that city. :) Something to be aware of at any age, those 4000 something pound vehicles are patiently waiting for you to pick up the pace a little. If you are going to walk slowly and stare at your surroundings, save it for the sidewalk.
