Canal Park Pedestrian ‘Slip Bridge’ to Receive Extensive Repairs

If you’re tired of the “up and down” status of the Canal Park pedestrian ‘Slip Bridge’, you aren’t alone. The blue bridge connecting the DECC and Bayfront areas to the rest of Canal Park has been ‘down’ a lot lately, having multiple issues hindering the ability for the bridge to properly raise and lower.
The City of Duluth Public Works Department announced today (May 8 ) that because of the recurring problems, extensive repairs to the bridge will need to occur in the very near future. No exact timeline has been set for repairs, but city officials plan to announce precise work plans soon.
In the short term, the bridge is being left in the ‘down’ position until cabling repairs can be made.
