Coker College in South Carolina will require all incoming Freshman to participate in a Fitness Assessment  test.

They will have a BMI (Body Mass Index) calculated, do a one mile run/walk, and push ups and sit ups in a matter of minutes. They will also offer a healthy meal option at all meals served through the school.   I know all to well about the Freshman 10 or more for some people, but for me I actually stayed very fit all through College, in large part because I had to walk or ride my bike every where. :) I guess only time will tell how this will work out for the Freshman class, but I am sure a few adjustments will need to be made through out the year. Many young adults who head off to school are overwhelmed with all that it entails in being on your own, so by encouraging students to be healthy, this may ease the transition for them.
