Dynamic offensive playmaker Cordarrelle Patterson continues to attract more attention as an up-and-coming superstar following a rookie Pro Bowl appearance in 2013 that was largely prompted by his special teams skills. In his second year, the wideout has set high personal goals of a true breakout season, and Sports Illustrated agrees that he is destined to be something special.

In the magazine's annual "Rising Stars" series, Patterson was named as a figure with growing notoriety, poised for big things ahead. When asked about the nod from Sports Illustrated, Patterson told the St. Paul Pioneer Press "If they say it, of course I'm going to agree with them".

Patterson's rookie campaign ended with with him leading the league in kickoff return yards and showing flashes of brilliance in the passing game and out of the backfield, while posting only marginal numbers with the offense. His main limitation in 2013 was the limited time on the field with the offense, especially early in the season. With a new coaching staff, new offensive scheme, (potentially a new quarterback), and a year of experience under his belt, 2014 looks promising for the speedy multi-use threat.
