Dallas City Workers Get Counseling for Using Facebook Too Much On the Job

Technically, Dallas city workers aren’t allowed to do personal business when they are on the taxpayer’s dime.
Which is why two dozen workers at Dallas’ city hall are in hot water after a probe revealed that they were spending a good chunk of their day on Facebook.
The social media fans received punishments of reprimands or counseling, and the city is developing new guidelines for employee internet use.
Cesar Baptista, an assistant director of Dallas’ water department, clocked 68 hours on Facebook during a three-month period. But he claims it was simply a case of him logging on to Facebook in the morning, and then leaving it open and idling as the day progressed.
If that’s really the case, it would seem his counseling sessions would be much shorter than that of the fellow who’s become hopelessly addicted to Farmville.
