Demi Lovato Talks About Once Being a ‘Clingy Girlfriend’ in Cosmo on Campus
The always stylish Demi Lovato covers the spring issue of the U.K. mag Cosmo on Campus in a short and fun gray frock with a bustier top and a swingy, pleated skirt. She opens up about love and how she went through the phase where she was a clingy girlfriend.
Well, when you look as fabulous as Lovato, what gentleman in his right mind wouldn't want her draped on his arm?
"I'm in a place where I can finally trust and love and be a better person for the man I am in a relationship with, instead of being a clingy girlfriend or getting jealous," Lovato said. "It is very unhealthy when girls devote all of their time to a guy and forget their friends and family. I did that. I was always looking for distractions because I was so afraid of being alone."
She admits that she took a year off the romance realm to put herself first and "it's been incredible." She has had the best year of her professional life thanks to that laser-like focus.
"More has come out of the past year than in my entire career so far, and I truly believe it was because I was taking care of myself and not focusing on guys," she declared.
Maybe that's why she hasn't fully gotten together with One Direction's Niall Horan. The rumors of a flirtation abound – and we encourage a romance between these two once Lovato is ready to dive back into the dating scene. Demi and Niall, you have PopCrush's blessing to pursue love. Just sayin'.
Lovato may have had her best career year in 2012, but she does admit that she signed on for 'X Factor' prematurely. Her team was eliminated first and early in the battle rounds. She says she doesn't think she was ready and in a perfect world, "I would have maybe waited a year or more."
She has not revealed her status on the turmoil-riddled show, which saw judges L.A. Reid and Britney Spears walk in favor of focusing on their record label duties and a possible Vegas residency, respectively.
