Nearly a year to the day after Demi Lovato released her last single, "Body Say," the pop singer has released her newest track, "Sorry Not Sorry."

The song comes after the Confident crooner built up hype over the past few weeks with dramatically colorful images (in contrast to the black-and-white art for "Body Say"), and teases of a music video that features appearances by Paris Hilton and Wiz Khalifa alike.

Lovato teased the single's release with a heartfelt post a day before its release, penning a letter to her fans and Lovatics: "This is an anthem for anyone who’s ever been hated on and has risen above it and come out from the other side like a f--king savage," she wrote.

In that way, "Sorry Not Sorry" follows the recent trend of pop anthems for struggling-but-surviving fans: 2017 has already seen the release of Post Malone's collabo with Quavo on "Congratulations," Katy Perry's "Chained to the Rhythm," Fall Out Boy's "Champion" and Adam Lambert's "Two Fux," besides an armful of other examples.

Lovato puts her take on the trope with lines that confidently assert her newfound power like "Feeling inspired 'cause the tables have turned / Yeah, I'm on fire and I know that it burns."

The track also falls into the equally-popular trope of framing one's personal growth against someone else's stagnation. The second verse hears Lovato proudly boast "Yeah I know how bad it must hurt to see me like this / But trust me it gets worse."

She continues: "Now payback is a bad bitch / And baby, I'm the baddest / You're f--king with a savage / Can't have this, can't have this."

She even opens the song by singing "Now I'm out here looking like revenge / Feeling like a 10 / Best I've ever been."

While it's arguable that the track could have been more of an inspiring anthem if comparing Lovato's personal growth against her own past instead of others, it's undeniable that fans will be bumping "Sorry Not Sorry" on loop for ages, reveling in their selfhood to the synth claps in the background.
