I have a bit of a dilemma, when we bought our house 5 years ago it had just been professionally landscaped. Now, I have adapted and learned along the way in how to preserve the "look of the land" but now a few plants are getting out of control. Namely our Hosta plants. The one's in front of our house are massive. Here is the problem, I want to split them and replant part of it in the backyard. But, I have heard several different versions on how to go about this, and my loved ones in the house are not helping much with my lack of confidence in doing this. The solution they have is just buy more, you are gonna kill the ones that are already planted!  Great..... thanks for that.  They have just started to sprout and I was told now is the best time to split them and replant. Any experts out there? I would really appreciate any/all tips. I will keep you posted on what happened.
