This past Sunday morning as I was strolling out into the street to my car I noticed a lime green envelope sticking out of the door of my spouses vehicle which was across the street. Oh no, the dreaded parking ticket!

We have lived in our house for 10 1/2 years and due to our tiny garage we park out in front of our house, and we know every Sunday you have to move your vehicle to the opposite side of the street.

This is necessary due to the narrow streets you find in some neighborhoods, and of course for efficient snow removal which is completely understandable. But, did you know there is a specific time line when you are allowed to move your car on Sunday?

Well according to our $24 parking ticket it is between 4 pm and 8 pm every Sunday. If you do not move your car by 8 pm that night, you risk a ticket; and before 4 pm you could get a ticket as well. That was the case for us. Our car was parked on the Sunday side of the street but it was at 9:30am.

I had never heard of this rule before, and neither did our neighbors, but according to the City of Duluth Traffic Department this rule had been in place for the past 50 years. So, for any of you out there that did not know about this rule, make sure you only move your car in that time frame or pay the price.

I am glad we know about this rule now, and I guess we should consider ourselves lucky that this is the first ticket we got in all the years we have lived in our house. Make sure to pass this on to all your friends and family so we can keep the streets cleared and all cars on one side in an orderly fashion.
