In 2008, George Clooney and Rene Zellweger visited Duluth to promote their film 'Leatherheads'. Do you have any memories from that day?

'Leatherheads' was the story of the Duluth Bulldogs, a struggling professional football team circa 1925. The film is loosely based on the Duluth Eskimos, so George and Rene were in town promoting it.

I was junior in high school and I remember as soon as I heard George Clooney was coming to town, I knew me and my friend Nick had to meet him. Nick and me had this dream that we would be in Hollywood one day and maybe Mr. Clooney was our golden ticket!

I remember rushing to the Depot and waiting outside with a ton of other fans. Nick and me were weaving in and out of people trying to get a good look. When we saw George turn around the building we chased after him for a chance to meet him. Unfortunately he was gone before we raced out of the crowd and got to him.

We may never know if he was our golden ticket to Hollywood if we got to him sooner, but I felt amazing just being in the same vicinity as a Hollywood star. Do you have any memories of that day? let me know in the comments, check out the official trailer to the movie below, and check out a video from that day above.
