Did you know that one in four women have experienced domestic violence in her lifetime? And did you know that nearly three out of four of Americans personally know someone who is or has been a victim of domestic violence?  October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and you can help raise awareness by joining the march across the Bong Bridge on Wednesday, October 3rd, in awareness and remembrance of the lives lost due to domestic violence.

On Wednesday the Duluth and Superior mayors will present proclamations declaring our cities’ commitment to survivors of domestic violence and desire to end violence in our communities. The Twin Ports Proclamation Against Domestic Violence will take place at 4:30 p.m. at The Shack in Superior.

If you would like to participate, meet at The Shack Restaurant parking lot on Wednesday at 3:30 and where the group will start their walk. Duluth community members will start their walk on the Minnesota side. The two groups will meet in the middle and continue back to The Shack parking lot for the Mayor’s Proclamation at 4:30 p.m.
