Duluth Mayor Emily Larson gathered the media and the public today for an announcement that will affect how everyone gets around town the remainder of the year.

Larson said that she would "literally double the miles of street construction for 2016 -- going from roughly 5.5 miles to approximately 12 miles."

To pay for the increased construction, the Mayor says she is "going to ask the Council to support an increased investment of $800,000 in streets projects." And that "these are one-time dollars, made available through our anticipated budget surplus from 2015."

Everyone loves to complain about potholes and road construction, so it is literally a no win situation for the Mayor, as she points out in her Facebook post on the topic.
