Eighth grader Logan Griggs from Lincoln Park Middle School won the Multi-Regional State Spelling Bee earning him a spot at Nationals in Washington D.C.

In the 24th round held in Fergus Falls, MN Logan correctly spelled durezza, getting him that spot at Nationals coming up in May. For those who have never even heard of the word (like myself) durezza is an Italian word used in music meaning harshness.

Seventh grader Nina Wilkowske from Ordean East Middle School was the runner-up. Way to go Duluth students! I was actually in a spelling bee back in seventh grade and got the first word wrong. Best of luck to Logan as he competes at Nationals during the week of May 22.
