Duluth's Parks and Recreation team are encouraging families to stay active this winter by providing some free skating events coming up.

There will be free sessions of indoor community skating being offered at the Essentia Duluth Heritage Center (120 S 30th Ave. W.) this week:

  • Wednesday, December 26, 1:30-3:30 pm
  • Thursday, December 27, 9:15-10:45 am
  • Friday, December 28, 9:15-10:45 am

Of course, the Bayfront Family Center's outdoor rink is scheduled to open on Wednesday January 2nd, 2019 as long as weather cooperates. Regular hours of operation for the outdoor rink are as scheduled:

  •   Monday-Friday, 4-8 pm
  • Saturdays, 1-8pm
  • Sundays 1-5pm.

A small bonfire will be happening on Friday nights, with free hot chocolate and marshmallows available in the Family Center. During Duluth school district ISD 709’s school break (February 18-22, 2019) the skating rink will be open 1-8 pm.

Just a heads up, the Bayfront Family Center will be closed if wind chills reach -20
Fahrenheit, or if warm weather causes melting and standing water to form on the rink. So grab the family and have some fun this winter!
