Oscar-winner Brie Larson is the current frontrunner for Captain Marvel, and though we’ve seen plenty of “frontrunners” ultimately passed over for major movie roles, this is one case where it’s difficult not to get your hopes up. And it looks like we’re not the only ones who think Larson would make a great Carol Danvers, as Captain America himself has given his official seal of approval.

Chris Evans appeared alongside Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie at Wizard World Philadelphia over the weekend (via ComicBook.com), where the Civil War star expressed his enthusiasm at the possibility of Larson joining the MCU — and reminded fans that they already share a bit of movie history:

I just heard about that. I really hope that happens! I love Brie Larson. We did a movie together back in ’09, Scott Pilgrim vs The World. I cannot say enough about Brie Larson. I think she’s phenomenal, and I really hope that happens.

What makes it even cuter is an MTV interview with Larson from 2015, in which she charmingly confuses Captain Marvel with Captain America and says she’d be totally into taking Evans’ role.

Kevin Feige has promised that Marvel will announce the star and director of Captain Marvel this summer (maybe at Comic-Con?). Along with Larson’s potential casting, the studio is said to be eyeing Jennifer Kent (The Babadook) and Niki Caro (Whale Rider) to direct.

Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8, 2018.
