Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women age 20 and over\, killing approximately one woman every minute. Ninety percent of women have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease. SUMMARY:Walk for SIDS Research
DESCRIPTION:SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) is the number one cause of infant death in babies ages one month to one year. No one knows what causes it or what it is. Babies who die from SIDS seem perfectly healthy until one day\, while sleeping or taking a nap\, they suddenly stop breathing. This is an absolutely devastating situation for everyone involved. Our goal is to do everything in our power to prevent this from ever happening to another parent and family.    Registration will start at 7am on April 30th\, 2011.    $5 minimum donation per walker.    Ever walker will receive a Sticker\, Ribbon\, and SIDS info packet    Walkers who donate $50 or more will also receive a Bracelet    Walkers who donate $100 or more will also receive a T-Shirt    Walkers who donate $250 or more will also receive a Book Bag    Walkers who donate $500 or more will also receive a gift card    Walkers who donate $750 or more will also receive a second gift card    Walkers who donate $1\,000 or more will also receive a framed SIDS Poster and Poem    Walkers who donate $5\,000 or more will also receive a special gift (TBD)    Please come and show your support. DESCRIPTION:MIX 108 and Northstar Ford are teaming up to help local charities by having a three week long Diaper Drive.  Now through December 17 people can drop off unopened packages of diapers to help Northland families in need.  Diapers will be donated to Bethany Crisis Nursery\, Safe Haven\, and Life Care Center.    We had a good showing of support last year\, and we look forward to further helping this great cause.    Diapers can be dropped off at either Northstar Ford at 1420 Miller Trunk Highway or the Townsquare Media/MIX 108 offices at 14 E. Central Entrance.

SUMMARY:Twin Ports Bridge Festival Flood Relief Benefit
DESCRIPTION:A national act and local favorite\, Trampled By Turtles\, has agreed to headline a second day of the Twin Ports Bridge Festival at Bayfront Festival Park on July 8\, allowing the entire weekend to become a fundraiser for community members around the Twin Ports who have been affected by the flood.    Trampled By Turtles will be donating all proceeds from their performance to flood relief efforts\, as will all the other acts on the second day of the festival. Other acts include Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles\, Trapper Schoepp\, Solomon Witherspoon\, Sarah Krueger\, Hobo Nephews of Uncle Frank\, Mary Bue\, Matt Ray and Those Damn Horses\, and The Boomchucks. The money raised will go to a United Way fund for long term flood relief\, also being announced today. The kids activity tent from Saturday will turn into a flood relief tent for Sunday to house organizations looking for flood relief volunteers.    Sunday tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Tuesday\, June 26 at TwinPortsBridgeFestival.com for $35. Saturday is the same price and both days of the festival can be purchased for $60.    Saturday’s lineup features The Jayhawks headlining a full day that includes The Honeydogs\, Caroline Smith and the Goodnight Sleeps\, Charlie Parr\, Moors and McCumber\, The Fractals\, Sara Thomsen with Michael Laughing Fox Charette\, Adam Levy acoustic\, and batteryboy. Saturday also features Yoga\, Zumba\, and lots of activities for the whole family like Bunny Clogs\, Magic Mama\, a climbing wall\, and Amazing Jeffo\, a blind magician.    The original fundraising goal for Saturday to raise ten thousand dollars for the Music Resource Center-Duluth is still in place\, and all net proceeds above that goal will also go to flood relief.    The mission of the Twin Ports Bridge Festival has always been to unite the community under a dynamic entertainment experience. SUMMARY:24th Annual Fitger's 5K Run and Walk
DESCRIPTION:There’s no better time to start spring training than at the 24th annual Fitger’s 5K Run & Walk. The 3.1-mile race begins at 9 a.m. at Fitger’s (600 E. Superior St.) in downtown Duluth. An awards ceremony follows the race at 10:30 a.m.    The racecourse travels through downtown Duluth on Superior Street into Canal Park and finishes back at Fitger’s.    All finishers receive a T-shirt\, and trophies will be awarded to the top competitors in each age category for both the run and walk.    Important: Absolutely no early starters are allowed on the racecourse. Individuals in violation of this rule will be disqualified and asked to leave the course. No automobiles\, bicycles\, baby joggers\, roller skis\, inline skates\, handcycles\, hand-cranked wheelchairs\, pets or unofficial participants are allowed on the racecourse.
