Freecampsites.net is a great resource to find free and pay campsites in every state, and I decided to try and find FREE Northern Wisconsin Campsites. Luckily there seemed to be quite a few that would not be an extremely long drive with the kids. But of course if the campsite is free some may have very few amenities, so it all depends on what you are looking for in a campsite.

    Madge Roadside Rest Stop-Sarona WI

This campsite is at a Public Rest Area: Rating- 3 out of 5 stars. By the description of this campsite area it is very small and off the beaten path. Would be great if you want some privacy and you have an RV of some type but due to the small size your RV is recommended to be under 40'.  No hookups are available, and there is a small trail down to waters edge for some fishing or swimming on a small pond.

    Pioneer Park-Ogema WI

This campground is a Public- City Park (Official)  Rating: 3.95 out of 5 Stars. Campsites, picnic tables, boat landing and fishing on Ogema Millpond. The campground is at the edge of town.

Reviews: Linda: "  Stayed here 3 days in Sept 2017. Very quiet. Only overnight tent campers while I was there. Town is very small and people I met when walking dogs were friendly. Although this campground is next to a playground and ball diamond, no one used it while I was there. Felt safe. Nice hiking trail goes through town, small woods area and lake next to campground. Small pavilion and horseshoe pits also available. Restroom with running water and flush toilets. Stayed here in a 16 foot-long Trailer (RV). Linda would stay here again."
