CNN is reporting this morning that former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher has died this morning (Monday, April 8) following a stroke.

Thatcher, known as the "Iron Lady", was the only female to serve as Prime Minister in Great Britain. She is also one of the most prominent and well-known female female political figures around the world.

Thatcher served as Prime Minister from 1979 to 1990, earning the title "Iron Lady" for her toughness in political matters. In 2002 Thatcher suffered the first of a few strokes, leading to a leave from the public eye.
