"Willkommen to Duluth!"  I'm working on my German just in case I happen to run into any of the 370 German tourists cruising into Duluth today on the cruise ship 'Columbus'.

The German luxury liner 'C. Columbus' has returned to the Great Lakes for two cruises this month and is scheduled to make stops in Duluth on both legs of the Toronto-Chicago route today and again on Thursday, September 22. After being absent for the last 4 years this will mark the 11th and 12th time the 'Columbus' has visited Duluth since setting sail in 1997.

The ship will dock at the DECC and the passengers will pass through customs and enjoy a day long tour of the Twin Ports and the north shore planned by Visit Duluth.  The tourists will also have some time  to walk around Downtown Duluth and Canal Park, spending some money we hope, before departing at around 8 tonight.

The 'Columbus' comes equipped with five passenger decks that include a swimming pool, sauna, fitness center, library, salon, restaurant, lounge and wine-bar. Built for luxury cruising, the atmosphere onboard is one of casual elegance enhanced by outstanding cuisine and an attentive, international crew of 180.
