To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Grandma's Marathon, Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton made a special proclamation.

Saturday, June 19th will be “Grandma’s Marathon Day” in the state of Minnesota. The proclamation says, in part, "Runners from all over the world travel to Minnesota to race along one of the most scenic race courses, starting in Two Harbors, MN and finishing
in Duluth, Minnesota."

The nation's 11th largest marathon kicks off Saturday morning at 7:45 am with 9,600 registrants signed up for the race’s 40th running.
