The state of Minnesota was one of a handful of states whose Drivers License would not be valid alone to start boarding domestic Flights as of January 2018.

According to WDIO the reason it has taken so long for this to pass is lawmakers were worried about granting these drivers liscense to people living in this country illegally. Thankfully the legislature finally passed the bill on to Governor Dayton who signed it this this morning.

Until these new liscense are issued though, starting January 2018 residents of Minnesota would have to show a passport or some other form of Identification to board a flight along with your drivers license.

The state expects to start issuing these new ID's sometime next year.
