MnDOT is warning everyone about the obvious, traffic before, during and after Grandma's Marathon could be heavy, bet there are a few areas to be aware of.

The marathon draws nearly 60,000 people to the area, add road closures and various road projects and there could be some traffic headaches this weekend, here are a couple of trouble spots to be aware of:

  • Highway 61/London Road and the North Shore Scenic Highway will be closed during the race on Saturday.
  • Traffic is restricted to a single lane in each direction on I-35 in the Pine City/Hinckley area due to a road resurfacing project, and lengthy backups are expected.

MnDOT is encouraging that you either leave early, stay later or find another way around to avoid these areas. For the latest traffic conditions visit 511mn.org or download the free app onto your smartphone for up-to-date information on the road.
