Unfortunately for some pet owners there comes a time when they have to surrender a pet for a variety of reasons, but If said pet is a fish or some type of lizard this is not always an easy task.

That is what makes this event so necessary and will hopefully prevent people from dumping fish and plants into area lakes or releasing lizards into the wild knowing they will not survive.

Minnesota Sea Grant, The Snake Pit, World of Fish and Animal Allies have all teamed up for a surrender event called "Habitattitude"  on Saturday September 24th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Animal Allies, 4006 Airport Rd, in Duluth. Releasing aquarium fish and plants into lakes and rivers is potentially harmful to the environment and this is a humane way to re-home these animals.

Animal Allies does not  accept fish or reptiles, but is making  special accommodations to host the event with the help of the other businesses. Please make sure to pass this on to anyone you know who is looking for a new home for aquarium fish or reptiles, and thanks to all involved for giving people an option to surrender these pets.
