Hermantown Police had an action filled Christmas Day after officers spotted a car in the Walmart parking lot.

Walmart was closed for the holiday so the vehicle driving around the parking lot caught the attention of police who ran the plate and discovered that the car was reported stolen from Duluth.

One officer followed the car until backup arrived when they tried to pull the car over on southbound Miller Trunk Hwy in the 1600 block. The driver fled into the Miller Hill Mall parking lot and continued to drive behind the mall and onto Decker Rd.

Police say the pursuit became too dangerous and called it off. A short time later the vehicle was found by police unoccupied on the 3700 block of Haines Rd.

K9 units were being routed to the scene to help track down the suspect. While that was going on an HPD cop found some footprints in the snow which lead right to the suspect.

A 21-year-old female was arrested and found with property and evidence linking her to the stolen vehicle. The suspect went to jail on charges of, fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, felony possession of stolen property and driving after suspension.
