This week in 1998 Chris Farley's last movie was released, Michael Fortier was sentenced to prison and Brandy and Monica released their first number 1 hit.

Chris Farley and Matthew Perry starred in 'Almost Heroes' that opened up this weekend. It was about a wealthy aristocrat and a loud, low brow trapper whose mission is to beat Lewis & Clark across the U.S. The film did poorly at the box office only making $6 million and was Chris Farley's last leading role.

On this day in 1998 Michael Fortier was sentenced to 12 years in prison and fined $200,000 for failing to warn authorities about the the Oklahoma City bombing that took place in 1995.

Brandy and Monica released 'The Boy is Mine' as the lead single off their second studio album's. Brandy got the idea of the song from watching 'The Jerry Springer Show' where love triangles was the theme of that episode. It was also the first number one hit for both Brandy and Monica and became the second song in history to bounce from the number 23 spot to the number one spot.
