Hemp is the non psychoactive strain of marijuana and it's popularity in growing it has increased in Wisconsin. Legislative action this year lifted the state's decades-old ban on industrial hemp and now almost 140 Wisconsin farmers planted the crop this year.

According to WDIO this years crop was not quite as strong due to extremely wet weather and inexperienced growers, but many people say they will continue to plant it next year.

Hemp in the past has been used for a variety of things like clothing, food and construction materials, but recently a popular use for Hemp has been cannabidiol. Some say this can help alleviate pain, and give a calming effect for those suffering from anxiety. Retailers that sell these products (CBD) have grown in popularity as well with around 20 CBD shops opening around the state in the last 6 months.
