After hearing the crushing news that "Bennifer" was over last June, fans not only felt blindsighted by the news but also wondered why this was happening. Although the two have stayed relatively quiet about their divorce, Jennifer Garner sat down with Vanity Fair for its March issue and candidly spoke about the breakup, "Nannygate" and whether or not they could possibly get back together.

First, let's touch on the WHY of it all. Although rumors circulated questioning Ben Affleck's commitment to his wife, Jennifer said that they were already "separated for months" when the alleged affair between Ben and the family's nanny, Christine Ouzounian happened.

"Let me just tell you something," she tells Vanity Fair. "We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny. She had nothing to with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation."

Jennifer then explains that Ben believed that she didn't love him anymore, which she wanted the split. However, Jenn begs to differ and says, "Ben says, 'Oh, you just don't care,' and I say, 'No, it's the opposite.' It hurts me so much, and I care so much."

Despite being media mainstays, Jennifer says that they had a "real marriage."

"I didn't marry a movie star; I married him," she clarifies. "And I would go back and remake that decision. I ran down the beach to him, and I would again."

She also adds, "You can't have these three babies and so much of what we had. He's the love of my life. What am I going to say about that? He's the most brilliant person in any room, the most charismatic, the most generous."

Despite the love she has for Ben, she doesn't believe that they will get back together. However Jennifer is determined to look forward and focus on her three children.

"The main thing is these kids -- and we're completely in line with what we hope for them," she says. "Sure, I lost a dream of dancing with my husband at my daughter's wedding. But you should see their faces when he walks through the door. And if you see your kids love someone so purely and wholly, then you're going to be friends with that person."
