Jennifer Lawrence won Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy/Musical for her role as Joy Mangano in Joy at the 2016 Golden Globes.

In David O. Russell’s Joy, Lawrence portrays the woman who invented the Miracle Mop, Joy Mangano. Lawrence trumped Amy Schumer for Trainwreck, Melissa McCarthy for Spy, Maggie Smith for The Lady in the Van and Lily Tomlin for Grandma. This is Lawrence’s third Globe.

In her acceptance speech Lawrence thanked her director and frequent collaborator, David O. Russell, and gave a shout out to her home state of Kentucky.

Lawrence has won a Golden Globe now in three of the last four years, also winning in 2013 and 2014 for Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle respectively.

Last year, Amy Adams won Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical for Big Eyes.
