John Mayer’s ‘Born and Raised’ No. 1 on Billboard 200 for Second Week

For the second consecutive week, John Mayer has the best-selling album in America. His rootsy ‘Born and Raised’ album keeps the No. 1 spot on the new Billboard 200 chart, selling 65,000 copies to outpace the competition in a slow sales week.
That 65k figure was down 70% from Mayer’s total last week, when he entered the chart at No. 1, but it was still enough to beat out Adele‘s ’21,’ which claimed the runner-up spot with 58,000 units sold.
‘Born and Raised’ features the lead single ‘Shadow Days,’ a song about how Mayer has matured as a person — although some may question that after he recently retaliated against Taylor Swift for the disparaging song she wrote about him.
Adele’s sales total actually went up slightly from a week ago, making her the odds-on favorite to reclaim the top position next week, which would be a remarkable 24th total week at No. 1 for the album if she can pull it off.
One Direction‘s ‘Up All Night’ takes the No. 4 post with 41,000 sales. The red-hot boy band also sold 76,000 copies of its ‘Up All Night: The Live Tour’ DVD, giving them the top-selling music video of the week.
Country star Carrie Underwood and the ‘Now 42′ compilation remain in the Top 10, while newcomers to the Top 10 this week include alternative-leaning pop acts Sigur Ros, Regina Spektor, and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.
