Ahh the Wizard of Oz, a family movie staple in homes all across the U.S. for decades and one of my all time favorites.

I remember every year as a kid waiting for the movie to come on T.V. and it was quite the treat. Of course as I got older it was on way more than around Thanksgiving and eventually on VHS and DVD so I could watch it anytime I wanted.

But, even though I have the DVD I still catch my self watching it only once a year. Of course Dorothy played by Judy Garland who was born in Grand Rapids Minnesota, made that dress along with the Ruby Red Slippers one of the most recognized pieces of movie memorabilia ever.

The Bonham Auction House sold the iconic dress and said they believed of the 10 dresses made Judy Garland only wore 2 of them, one of which was just sold to a bidder by phone for $1.5 million dollars with sweat stains and all still on the name tag inside the dress.

We all know the sad story how one of the pair of Ruby Red Slippers was stolen from the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids ten years ago, and are still missing to this day. Hopefully this dress will be placed somewhere secure for decades to come.
