Justin Bieber's comeback/segue into post-bubblegum pop stardom is a success: "What Do You Mean?" set a new Spotify streaming record, his "Where Are U Now" collaboration with Diplo and Skrillex is a certified platinum hit, and at least 10 grown women in my Twitter feed have fessed up to crushes on the new Bieb. He's in a new stage of his career — but he may be answering questions about his ex, Selena Gomez, for the rest of his life.

In an interview with Australia's KIIS 1065, host Jackie O asked Justin about that blink-and-you'll-miss-it bit of anti-Jelena graffiti in the "Where Are U Now" video. The jab at Justin and Selena's onetime union was the work of a fan, and it seems that it barely even registered with the singer himself. "What are you talking about? Because I think that might be fake." He then clarified that the very-real doodle wasn't his, saying, "it wasn't me that did that." Attention Australian radio hosts: Justin will NOT fan the flames of months-old controversy.

He did, however, weigh in on another late pop star's years-old controversy. Justin discussed granting over 250 sick kids' wishes for the Make A Wish Foundation, saying, "with kids, they don't want anything from me. They're not trying to pull a deal, they just want to have fun and enjoy the moment." And then: "I think that's a lot of the misconception that they had about Michael Jackson, is that he wanted to be around kids 'cause they were just innocent, and they never wanted anything from him. So I get what he — I don't know if I believe all the stuff that is going on about Michael. But that's just my opinion."

In addition to declaring his status as a skeptic regarding Michael Jackson molestation claims, Justin admitted that he's happy to be single, and says he's still healing from his on-again, off-again relationship with Selena. "I haven't been in a relationship for a while now. I'm chilling and just hanging out. Just being by myself." He went on to elaborate, "I am a relationship type of guy, I love to be in love and I love cuddling and I love all of that kind of stuff but I got my heart broken and so I'm just going to let that heal up."

Where did all of this candor come from? "I had a few beers guys, maybe I'm talking too openly?" Oh.
