Justin Timberlake Responds to ‘D—head’ Critics in GQ Cover Story

Justin Timberlake has thinner skin than you might imagine. Critical lashings cut and sting, but he doesn’t let that get the best of him.

Besides, he’s laughing all the way to the bank, covering one of the most important magazines of the calendar year.

In his new GQ Men of the Year cover, JT addressed the big mouths who sized him down when his Ben Affleck co-starring film ‘Runner Runner’ tanked, as well as those who felt that Part 2 of his ‘The 20/20 Experience’ was unnecessary (even though it went No. 1).

Variety ran a piece saying he should stop doing movies. Billboard suggested he shouldn’t have released ’2 of 2.’ (By the way, we loved it.)

“Where did all this vitriol come from? It’s mean. And I’m not cut out for it,” JT said. But he didn’t boo-hoo in a corner.

However, he did retort, “The movie didn’t do well at the box office, so I should quit? Hold on a second. If I was somebody else, you wouldn’t have said that. I have the number one album this week, and I shouldn’t have released it? Come on, man. You sound like a d—head… It just shocked me because, like, you’re trade magazines. None of your opinions count. And by the way, none of you can do it.”

Zing! You tell ‘em, JT!

He also showed a side of himself we don’t see often: the Memphis boy who is inspired by his local roots. Timberlake said, “It’s a struggling city with a defeatist attitude. I’m from this town, and I grew up with a little bit of a chip on my shoulder, so sometimes I find it funny that I’ve been able to acquire the patience it takes to be kind to people in our business. Because sometimes I just want to f—ing kill everybody.”

Rawr! PS: We wonder if JT got this GQ nod because he played the mag’s creative director in ‘Friends With Benefits?’ We kid, we kid. We love him.
