Longtime Lake Superior Zoo Resident, Phoebe the Kodiak Bear Passes Away

The Kodiak bear, Phoebe has been calling the Lake Superior Zoo her home since 1988. After having trouble standing up and not having an appetite over the past three days, she was sadly euthanized according to an article from WDIO.

Being born and raised in Duluth, I always loved going to the zoo and so does my daughters. One of our favorite exhibits was actually the bear exhibit. We just loved seeing how big the bears were and watching them play. It's a sad day seeing one of the awesome bears pass away.

I do think it was a smart decision euthanizing her and not letting her suffer any longer. My condolences to the Lake Superior Zoo family and may Phoebe rest in peace.
