It's hard to imagine One Direction without all five guys, but Louis Tomlinson has come clean about initially having his doubts about joining the band.

According to J-14, in the upcoming One Direction autobiography titled 'One Direction: Who We Are: Our Official Autobiography,' Tomlinson admits that he didn't feel comfortable being part of a band in the beginning.

"I'm the type of person who likes being the center of attention. For the whole of 'The X Factor' I didn’t have a solo which, for me, was a tough pill to swallow," he said.

"I was delighted but at the same time, couldn’t really understand why I was in the band. That was really low, that feeling of not having a purpose, of just being along for the ride."

We're glad that Tomlinson had a change of heart because clearly the band has done well due to the chemistry among the five. In a recent interview, Tomlinson even admitted that he probably wouldn't do well on his own.

“Let’s be honest, I personally don’t think I’d be able to do it as a solo artist,” he told Entertainmentwise. “It’s very intense and hard to comprehend, so it’s good to be able to speak to people who obviously know exactly what you personally are going through.”

One Direction's autobiography will be hitting book shelves and digital download on Sept. 25.
