Nostalgia is a tricky feeling to pin down, and actress Melissa McCarthy's experience filming the next chapter of Gilmore Girls — which will return as a Netflix miniseries — has left her doing loops on an emotional roller-coaster.

McCarthy, who devastated GG fans in February when she said she wasn't officially asked to join the reboot, quelled their fears in April when she finally confirmed she did plan to return. And at last night's (April 26) Time 100 Gala, she told People the Stars Hollow reunion has really done a number on her.

"Oh, my God, it was so sad. I got so sentimental," she said of her first visit to set two weeks ago. "And it felt like the greatest idea in the world. It was lovely."

"Seeing Stars Hollow, I realized I had missed it way more than I had thought," she told Time elsewhere on the red carpet. "I think it’s going to be great."

McCarthy, who will star in July's Ghostbustersmaintained she believes specters are real, and told Time that if you have ghosts to talk to, you're never really alone.

"I...don’t think when we’re done we just float away," she said. "I think we’re still around. I still talk to my grandparents all the time. I don’t think of them as ghosts, but I do talk to them a lot in my car. I don’t know if that makes me crazy."
