Men More Likely to Say ‘I Love You’ First (But There’s a Catch)

Two-thirds of the time it is the man who says “I love you” first in a relationship, according to a study in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
The study also found that men start considering saying “I love you” an average of six weeks before women do.
There is, however, a bit of a catch: Men are more likely to say “I love you” as a way to initiate sexual contact, whereas women are more likely to to offer up those famous three words afterwards.
So yes, men are more likely to say “I love you” first – only because they think of it as the ultimate aphrodisiac.
