Mike and Ike Announce Break-Up

Mike and Ike candies are going their separate ways after 72 years together.  Mike plans to pursue music, while Ike will dabble in art.  On his Facebook page, Ike posted: "I know it's hard to believe, but yes — Mike and I split. It is what it is. We just couldn't agree on stuff anymore. Some call it creative differences? Whatever."  Mike replied: "We just don't agree on the candy. My red, his red, my lime, his lime, my box ideas, his box ideas. So over it. Instead of all this hassles, now I'm just gonna jam."

The candies debuted in 1940. The new boxes, billboards and other displays will have one name or the other scratched out.

Since the Mike and Ike split was announced on the brand's Facebook page, the candy has added more than 650,000 Facebook fans.

How do you feel about the break up?  Do you like Mike and Ike candy, or do you prefer Hot Tamales?  How about the sour Mike and Ike counterparts, the Zours?

Or my favorite...the Jolly Joes Mike and Ike candy.  Those are the best!!!!

As for a division of assets, we're not sure if Mike gets to keep the citrus fruits and Ike the berries and cherries.  I'm here to keep you posted on what happens with this couple and what lies ahead.
