Folks in the city of Lancaster, Minnesota gathered this week to watch the epic collision of a nearly 1,500 pound pumpkin and a minivan. Charlie Bernstrom, the farmer that grew the 1,465 pound gourd, told the Grand Forks Herald it was "bittersweet" seeing months of growing and care crashing into the ground in a matter of seconds.

Beside making for an awesome spectacle, the pumpkin drop also raised $360 for the Kittson County Literacy Council. The lucky person that got to "push the button" to ultimately drop the pumpkin from the crane onto the van 80 feet below was decided by a drawing. KSTP TV reports that 2-year-old Emmett Peterson got the pleasure of sending the pumpkin plunging toward the van.
