Minnesota Vikings Release Cornerback Antoine Winfield

Multiple sources confirm the Minnesota Vikings have released veteran cornerback Antoine Winfield.
Tom Pelissero of ESPN 1500 in the Twin Cities broke the news on Twitter, following up with a second tweet saying this:
#Vikings asked Antoine Winfield to take a pay cut, per sources. He called their bluff. Now heads back out into free agency.

Winfield was due $7.25 million this year, which loosens up money to pursue younger talent both at wide receiver and cornerback; both positions where the Vikings need to build depth.
The 35 year old logged 9 seasons with the Vikings after serving in Buffalo for five years. The reliable force in the secondary offered 71 tackles, 3 interceptions, and half a sack last season.
