Every year at the Xcel Energy Center they create the Ice with some help from Minnesota Wild Fans who have taken a sample of water from their favorite lake or stream and added it to the collection at Xcel.

The team is asking to collect water from all 10,000 lakes throughout the state even though I have heard that there is actually more than that at last count. This is such a great way to celebrate the beauty and bounty that the state of Minnesota has to offer.

The help us Flood the Rink Kicks off on Saturday September 15 from 6am-3pm Gate 1 Xcel Energy Center. If you can't make it to the event this Saturday bring your vial of water to the venue anytime before a Wild Home Game.

Here's how it works:

1.) Collect up to three ounces of water from your favorite pond, lake, river or stream in a small portable container.

2.) Connect on social media; post a photo or video of your water being collected using the hashtag #OurIce, along with why you chose that location.

3.) Bring Your Water to Xcel Energy Center on September 15 or before any Wild Home Game.

4.)   Add your water to the collection station at Gate 1. Your water will become part of the ice for the 2018-2019 season.
