New Han Solo Set Photo Teases Empire’s Involvement in ‘Star Wars’ Spinoff
Ron Howard’s at it again! (…which is just a delightful phrase because, like, what havoc could Ron Howard possibly wreak on this earth?) The director has shared another intriguing photo from the set of the still-untitled Han Solo spinoff, this time teasing a very familiar piece of headgear. Don’t worry — it’s not Darth Vader, but it does belong to someone who probably knows him from work.
Howard tweeted a photo of a helmet famously worn by troopers on the Death Star in the original Star Wars trilogy, along with the caption “The Empire Looms Large”:

If you’re of the opinion that the new Star Wars films have been a little too Death Star-heavy, this photo probably doesn’t thrill you; then again, it doesn’t tell us a whole lot. Here’s what we do know: Han Solo — along with the rest of the movie-going public — only learned about the Death Star in A New Hope, so it’s unlikely that Darth Vader’s iconic world-destroyer will factor into the new spinoff. As for Vader himself…his presence continues to be felt (and seen, in the case of Rogue One) in the Star Wars franchise, and there have been rumors that the classic villain will appear in the Han Solo spinoff. Make of that what you will.
Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film (which, hey, maybe they should just stick with that title) stars Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and hits theaters on May 25, 2018.
