In this day and age it seems as If good sportsmanship is long gone, but one young cross country runner proved it is alive and well.

Melanie Bailey from Devils Lake North Dakota was competing in a cross country meet on a golf course in Minnesota, when she noticed a runner from another school was down with an injury and crying. Bailey stopped and knew that she had to help her.

That student was Danielle Lenoue who begged Bailey to keep running, but she knew she could not leave her there.  Lenoue suffered torn ligaments in her knee and was not able to walk, so Bailey who is is much smaller had Lenoue hop on her back and carried her more than a quarter mile to reach the first aid station. A physical feat indeed, on top of showing true compassion for another person...Bravo Melanie! For more on this amazing story CLICK HERE
