While the rain has stopped and much of the flood waters have receded, there is still plenty of danger associated with the remaining water. Officials and emergency crews offer the following recommendations to avoid remaining flood danger:

Residents should stay away from streams, culverts, and standing water. Never underestimate the power of moving water. Children should be supervised and remain away from all water at this time. Water banks are unstable due to the heavy rain and roadways and ground continue to be eroded away by the flood water. Emergency responders have had several people nearly drowned during this emergency situation.

Residents should not come into contact with overflow areas. It is likely that standing water is not sanitary water due to widespread sewer overflows and backups.

Motorists should avoid barricaded roads and find alternate routes. Barricades are there for the protection of the public. Roads may be undermined due to the rain and remain unstable.
